Book Review: Angel’s Blood (Guild Hunter #1) by Nalini Singh

Angels' Blood (Guild Hunter, #1)Angels’ Blood by Nalini Singh

Blurb:

Vampire hunter Elena Deveraux knows she is the best- but she does not know if even she is good enough for this job. Hired by the dangerously beautiful archangel Raphael, a being so lethal that no mortal wants his attention, Elena knows failure is not an option—even if the task is impossible.

Because this time, it’s not a wayward vamp she has to track. It’s an archangel gone bad.

The job will put Elena in the midst of a killing spree like no other—and pull her to the razor’s edge of passion. Even if the hunt does not destroy her, succumbing to Raphael’s seductive touch just might. For when archangels play, mortals break.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Now that I have officially embraced the fact that I am currently in love with the PNR genre, I have to say that I am off to a great start with this series (this also being my first book of 2014).

I really liked the first book of the EIT series but I believe this was exactly what I was looking for – hot, hot sexual tension. I have read my fair share of stories of vampires and angels but this one was definitely new to me. I also don’t think I’m suddenly going to be all that knowledgeable about this genre anytime soon but a good book is a good book and as long as there’s romance, I’m always up for anything.

Speaking of romance, well, I simply loved what Elena and Raphael had going on between them. Though the story didn’t fully center on their love story, it was more than enough to make me want to root for them and I can’t wait to read what happens next. I guess it also helped that Elena was such a kick-ass (and smart-ass) heroine, Raphael was the kind of hero and book boyfriend that I usually love – a hot and powerful jerk who turned out to be perfect in the end, there were also an interesting bunch of supporting characters and the writing was just awesome.

One of my favorites, definitely, maybe.
